In his book, Let’s Get Free: A Hip Hop Theory of Justice, former federal prosecutor and law professor, Paul Butler advocates jury nullification, the system of strategically voting not guilty in non violent criminal cases. Butler argues that America’s criminal justice system is fundamentally broken, essentially racist and doesn’t make us any safer.
